The ABSP Committee is pleased to announce that this year's Winter Matchplay in Milton Keynes will be the 2026 National Scrabble Championship.
As some of you will be aware, the ABSP Committee has been working to deliver a 2026 National Scrabble Championship in the north-west of England, with the intention that this would take place on the weekend of 24th and 25th October.
Unfortunately, a suitable venue at a reasonable cost was proving elusive and this, coupled with a changing committee, meant we had to explore alternative ways of delivering the event.
The Committee are delighted to announce that, following discussions with Mike Willis, the Winter Matchplay will become — for this year only — the National Scrabble Championship.
The Winter Matchplay is a long-established and popular major event on the ABSP calendar, and we are very grateful to Mike for working with the ABSP committee to ensure that we can provide you with a high-quality NSC, which should help both events.
The event details and entry form will be reviewed and updated as soon as possible, but the date and venue remain as for the Winter Matchplay — 21st and 22nd November at the Holiday Inn, Milton Keynes.
