Having been taught to play scrabble by my late grandfather and enjoyed the family element of the game,
my curiosity of Tournament Scrabble finally got the better of me in September 2013. Very quickly, I became
hooked and ended up driving all over the UK (and flying further afield) to play. I won the Most Improved Player
trophy in 2014, following a record increase in rating, having chanced my arm in open divisions and been successful.
I now enjoy organising and directing tournaments as well as playing in them.
I am a teacher of Social Sciences at a secondary school in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, which is time consuming but exceptionally rewarding. Within my school, I have now set up a Scrabble club for young people and am very keen to promote the game to the younger generation in the UK.
